A grass roots ministry dedicated to meeting the needs of the Irvington community, My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) has been empowering residents since the early 1980s. While we serve a variety of guests, our responsibility is to serve the most marginalized members of society. Our mission is to provide social services and tools to inspire hope and transform the Irvington community.
MBK core mission is to:
Motivate love for God
Prayer is an integral part of the daily meal service. Many churches of various denominations participate in the ministry at MBK.
MBK has staff members who have a genuine concern for the guests and their situations. MBK has many dedicated volunteers who interact with the guests in a respectful manner. MBK utilizes what we call ‘MBK Associates’ to serve as Guest Liaisons who offer an example of hope to the guests.
Transform the Irvington community
MBK is a safe place with a positive atmosphere for the members of the Irvington community. Guests can receive assistance with health, financial and other needs.
Provide quality services
MBK is staffed by professionals who hold all required certification to perform their jobs at the highest levels.
Provide a respectful, compassionate, and supportive environment
Staff and volunteers are expected to treat guests with respect and compassion. Guests are expected to interact with each other in a respectful way, leaving “street behavior” outside.
