Here at My Brother’s Keeper, we believe that it is beneficial to show gratitude for your blessings year-round. One of the greatest ways to do this is to volunteer your time to give back to your local community efforts. Let’s discuss the importance of being thankful and how you can help spread joy and make a difference this season by volunteering in Baltimore.
Hunger and Homelessness
Hunger and homelessness are nationwide issues that have a severe impact on our communities right here in Baltimore. If you have shelter and food to feed your family, be grateful. If you have non-perishable food items in your pantry that you can do without, be generous. Consider hosting a food or clothing drive or donating your spare contributions directly to MBK. If you have spare time, consider volunteering it to help us provide hot meals to those who need it most. With help from donors and volunteers, we can fight hunger and homelessness directly at the source.
Volunteer slots are being filled quickly for our special Thanksgiving Day meal, but if you are interested in helping us prepare food, stage food, or decorate the facility, please email Danise at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How You Can Benefit from Volunteering
When you volunteer your efforts, you can only hope that what you are doing has an impact on the people you are helping. But many people fail to recognize the immense personal benefits that volunteering holds. Volunteering gives you an opportunity to interact with the less fortunate members of your community in a positive setting. This expands social skills and awareness, limiting loneliness and decreasing depression. After volunteering, many people are more self-aware and grateful for their own circumstances. This limits stress and promotes happiness. Learn more about how you can benefit from volunteering here.
