Volunteering

Happy Thanksgiving from us at MBK! Consider donating or volunteering this holiday season.

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and that means it’s time to take account of all the blessings you have in your life and reflect on how lucky you are to have those things. It’s also the perfect time of year to think about ways you can give back to the world; what can you do to benefit your community? Volunteering in Baltimore may just be the best way to do that. Let’s take a look at some of the problems Baltimore is facing and what you can do to help.

MBK would like to wish our community, readers, friends, family, and service members a very happy Thanksgiving. We hope you are able to spend it with family, an important thing during the holiday season. Remember to reflect on what you give thanks for this year.

We would like to give thanks to our supporters, community, and everyone who has made it possible this year to help those in need. We’re proud of our amazing progress this year in guiding and assisting those who need it most. Our greatest joy comes from helping our community thrive and grow.

Giving Thanks?

Saturday, November 14th, 2015

Giving thanks appealAs we once again approach the Thanksgiving season, we truly give thanks that this past year, through the grace of God’s love, we have once again been able to make a significant, positive impact in the lives of so many members within Irvington’s marginalized community.

As always, none of this could be possible without the dedicated volunteers who give so much of themselves — and to those who provide the many in-kind and monetary donations to help us fulfill our mission.

This past spring, we all saw frustration erupt from within our minority communities here in Baltimore, revealing just some of the many social challenges we continue to face in our beloved city.

On the bright side, those events served only to steel our determination here at My Brother’s Keeper to redouble our efforts in showing God’s love and mercy by meeting the needs of the marginalized members of our community.

We ask you to ponder this Thanksgiving season the blessings God has bestowed upon you this past year, and we ask you to give strong consideration as to whether you might be able to say thank you by helping us achieve the goals of food security, access to somatic and mental healthcare; employment for all and changing education outcomes for children in the Irvington community.

We list several ways you can assist under the How You Can Help tab on our website’s homepage — from volunteering, to in-kind contributions, to making a financial donation.

We urge you, particularly in this year of 2015, to show the compassion we know exists here in Baltimore. More now than ever, this is the time to show that Baltimore cares for its own.

Thank you, and May God bless you and yours this Thanksgiving.
