As these hot summer days grow humid, muggy, and uncomfortable, it’s natural to wonder how anyone could tolerate spending extensive time outdoors. For many in the homeless community in Baltimore, they don’t have a choice. When temperatures rise and emergency shelters are full, it can be difficult for these people to find cool shelter or shade – much less water. Everyone dreams of having a safe home but for those with HIV, achieving this can be especially challenging.

Earlier this week on July 5, the Baltimore Sun reported that Baltimore’s Health Care for Homeless Inc. was granted $1.26 million in federal funding in order to provide housing assistance and support services to low-income individuals with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and their families.
