MBK and Amazon Smile

Thursday, February 19th, 2015

My Brother’s Keeper has begun a new journey with a program called Amazon Smile. The Amazon Smile Foundation donates 0.5% of the price of all eligible Amazon Smile purchases to the charitable organizations selected by their customers. Donations collected are paid directly into MBK. Irvington My Brother’s Keeper is registered with Amazon Smile and is entitled to receive donations from the Amazon Smile Foundation.  You just start your Amazon shopping at and designate either Irvington My Brother’s Keeper or EIN: 52-2129199 as your preferred charity. The rest is automatic. Amazon Smile is the same as the Amazon you know including all the same products, prices and Amazon Prime benefits. We have already receiving donations!

The Homeless Population of Baltimore

Wednesday, February 11th, 2015

In 2013, a large group of volunteers took to the streets of Baltimore to conduct a census of the homeless population. The census was given the name “point in time” and was conducted by a group of volunteers called “The Journey Home” along with the Mayor’s Office of Human Services. The goal of the census is to have a solid number to go along with the growing problem of homelessness in the city of Baltimore. However, volunteers also found that while there are such a large number of homeless individuals within the city, many are suspect of any help that is offered. Some of the sad and important findings of this census are as follows:
